Early life and background -
Vicky kaushal was born in Hindu Punjabi family on 16 may 1988 in suburban chawl in Mumbai ,his father Sham kaushal an action director in Indian film and Venna kaushal a homemaker ,his younger brother sunny is also an actor.
He graduated with an Engineering Degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Mumbai’s Rajiv Gandhi Institute of technology in 2009 . He early realised that he had no interest in an office job and began to eager to have a career in films.
He started his career by working as an assistant director of Anurag Kashyap’s two part crime drama Gang of wsseypur(2012) , then played minor role in Kashyap’s production Luv Shuv Tey chicken Khurnana (2012) then short film Geek out (2013)and later Bombay Velvet (2013)
In 2015 the movie Massan directed by Neeraj Ghaywan led him to the pinnacle where he played a role of young man from low socio economic class yearning for better life. For his excellent performance he won IIFA and Screen Award for best male debut and a nomination for the Asian Film Award for best Newcomer.

He played the male lead of the romantic comedy Love Per Square Foot, India’s first original film from Netflix from where he achieved break through in 2018.it was later screened at the Beijing Internationl Film Festival in 2019.Then again he came back with finest Movie Raazi(2018), a real life story incident during india Pakistan war of 1971. Kaushal’s biggest hits of 2018 was movie Sanju . A Biopic of troubled actor Sanjay Dutt .where kaushal played his best friend role of Kamli . Both movie Raazi and Sanju proved to be among the highest grossing of 2018.

In 2019 .vicky kaushal starred as military officer in Uri: the surgical strike , an action film based on the 2016 incident of Uri attack, direted by Aditya Dhar and filmed in Serbia .Kaushal was awarded with the National Film Award for Best Actor and received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor .
